Aguthi | Kenya
A luminous showcase of high-altitude Kenyan complexity. Naturally processed to amplify deep fruit intensity, this lot from Nyeri County opens with an expressive burst of ripe strawberry, peach, and sweet pineapple. The profile is carried by a sparkling citrus pulse of mandarin orange and marmalade, settling into a rich finish of honeycomb sweetness and structured cacao nibs.
The Story
Sourced from the Mungaria Factory under the Aguthi Farmers' Co-operative Coffee Society in Nyeri County. Situated at 1,750 meters on the fertile, volcanic slopes of the region, local smallholders meticulously cultivate classic Kenyan varieties. While Kenyan coffees are traditionally washed, this rare Natural lot is slow-dried in the cherry, allowing the SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 beans to absorb an immense concentration of fruit sugars. The result is an extraordinary offering that iLLUMinates the natural processing craft of Nyeri.

The Ritual
AGUTHI is an expressive, fruit-forward lot engineered for high-clarity filter extractions or an intensely sweet, vibrant espresso.
- Filter (V60): We recommend a 1:16 brew ratio at 92°C. A controlled, gentle pour structure highlights the sparkling mandarin acidity, citrus marmalade nuances, and strawberry aromatics.
- Modern Espresso: Target a 1:2.5 ratio (e.g., 18g in, 45g out) in 24–27 seconds. This extraction style harnesses the dense bean structure to deliver a syrupy shot dripping with peach sweetness and a cacao nib finish.
