Kiamwangi | Kenya
A crisp, structured profile representing the quintessential washed Kenyan cup. Cultivated in high-altitude volcanic terrain, this AA lot opens with bright, distinct notes of wild berries and honeyed lemon, balanced by a dense core of raw sugarcane and rich brown sugar
The Story
Located in the heart of Nyeri County, Kiamwangi Coffee Factory operates under the Iria-ini Farmers' Co-operative Society Limited. Smallholder farmers in the region manage traditional SL28 and SL34 trees at elevations between 1,700 and 1,900 meters. The cherries undergo selective hand-picking and traditional washed processing, followed by sun-drying on raised African beds. The resulting AA lot exhibits uniform sizing and high density, yielding a cup that iLLUMinates clean regional acidity and structured sweetness.

The Ritual
KIAMWANGI AA is optimized for high-clarity pour-over brewing or a bright, punchy modern espresso.
- Filter (V60): A clean 1:16 brew ratio at 92°C. A controlled three-pour technique highlights the crisp honeyed lemon acidity and wild berry sweetness.
- Modern Espresso: Target a 1:2.4 ratio (18g in, 43g out) in 28–30 seconds. The extraction delivers a dense, concentrated body driven by sugarcane sweetness and rich brown sugar.
