A bright, buttery masterpiece from the volcanic slopes of Chiapas. Bringing world-class Bolivian expertise to Mexican soil, this Obata variety offers a refined natural profile with a clean, honeyed sweetness and vibrant fruit clarity.

The Story

Produced by the renowned Los Rodríguez family at their LA RESERVA farm, this lot represents a new chapter for Mexican specialty coffee. Situated along Latitude 15 North, the estate benefits from a unique microclimate that the family has paired with the state-of-the-art processing techniques they perfected in Bolivia. The result is a focus on "absolute cleanliness"—a natural process that avoids heavy fermentation "funk" in favor of highlighting the pure, volcanic terroir of northern Chiapas.

The Profile

An uplifting and sophisticated cup characterized by its creamy mouthfeel and elegant citrus lift. LA OBATA moves away from traditional rustic profiles, offering instead a buttery texture that carries delicate fruit notes with remarkable transparency.

  • Primary Notes: Sun-dried Apricot, Mixed Berries.
  • The Finish: A rich, buttery caramel base with a lingering honeyed sweetness and orange zest.

The Ritual

LA OBATA is a standout choice for modern espresso. Its natural buttery body provides a luxurious texture that cuts through milk beautifully, making it an exceptional candidate for a flat white or a bright latte. When pulled as a straight shot, the apricot and honey notes remain distinct and vibrant. For those who prefer filter, a Kalita Wave extraction will emphasize the coffee's caramel sweetness and its clean, syrupy finish.
